Zhejiang Normal University’s Opening Ceremony for the International Student Class of 2016
During the afternoon of September 28th, ZJNU’s international students of 2016 gathered in the lecture hall on the second floor of the student activity center, where this semester’s opening ceremony was held.
Dean Jiang Guojun introduced the university’s development history and educational situation as well as encouraging international students to “study diligently and strive for progress”, “integrate into society and coexist harmoniously with each other”, “understand China and march toward the whole world”. These three suggestions were said in the hope that each international student can become an integral part of ZJNU’s society as well as use this platform of communal and personal study to develop not only their own ability, but the ability of their schoolmates as well. Dean Jiang stressed the importance of learning and progressing together, but placed special attention on not only allowing students to show their own special and individual culture but also strive to enjoy a deeper, more complete method of experiencing, exploring and researching China.
Speeches were also made by the old student representative; Folgy from the College of Creative Culture and Communication, the freshman representative; Luo Gang, a Doctor degree student from the College of Mathematics, Physics and Information Technology, as well as the professor representative; Chen Mei.
The event was hosted by a representative from the International Department and was attended by members of staff from the Undergraduate Education Department, Postgraduate Education Department, leaders of each college’s international student management team, Student Management Office workers, international student tutors as well as all new international students.
Once the opening ceremony came to a close, a lecture about laws, rules and regulations was given to help international students better understand life here in China.
