Feel a different kind of exotic-Third cultural sharing activity

In an effort to promote exchange and communication between Chinese and international students, College of Mathematics Physics and Information Technology held its third cultural sharing activity about clothing articles at the room 104,building 25 , the College of Humanities, The teacher in charge of student affairs, Mr Qiu,the counsellor and international students,as well as Chinese students were present.

The meeting opened with a warm welcome from the host toward the honored guests. Soon after, the Chinese student Xi Shi Jie along with the international student Jin Xiao Chao (Kazadi) introduced the China’s Tang dynasty costumes. During the questions and answers session they carefully explained and answered international student’s questions about wide and slim sleeves on the Tang dynasty costumes as well as women’s hair adornments. Their explanations gave international students a deep understanding of Chinese ancient culture.

And then Roland from Swaziland of Ghana revealed his country’s culture, folkways and folk-costumes. He mentioned a special festival, the virgin girls festival, which they celebrate every last week of August. During this very festival, virgin girls puts on only tree leaves to cover themselves while dancing and praying for blessings.

Through PPT and a short video, Giordani form Congo Brazzaville showed their folkways. The audience showed strong interest when he talked about his country’s music. Therefore, to meet their expectations, he danced to the rhythm of ZAO music which drew a loud applause from the audience.

Lastly, Mr Qiu summed up. He told international students his impressions of the event and pointed out that the gathering was not only a shared platform established by Chinese and international students for exchanging but did also help both Chinese and international students to learn each other’s culture, to broaden their horizons and to enhance their spoken language. At the same time, Mr. Qiu also pointed out that College of Mathematics Physics and Information Technology is paying best effort to solve the difficulties that the student had in class, life, language communication. For some topic that students are more concerned about, such as scholarships, class attendance and other issues , Mr. Qiu made detailed answers, and make a forecast to relevant international students the activities. In the end, Mr. Qiu expressed welcome with the greatest extent to all the international students.
