Academic Society Becomes First International Students Union at College of Economics and Management

Sigma Beta Phi is the new international student’s academic union at Zhejiang Normal University, under China-Africa International Business School and College  of Economics and Management. Formally IMBA & IBM Academic Society, the new fraternal order comprises all international undergraduate and post-graduate students within the college.

3 weeks after its inception, following acclaimed peer to peer study sessions and successful general elections of leaders, He Shurong the Vice Dean of China-Africa International Business School and College of Economics and Management believes the Academic Society should upgrade to a fraternity, and share its research, publications, passion, creativity and energy with other international students within the college.

“It is not just a social community, because research and academic activities will be the main and most important focus” said Mr. Shurong.

Leader of the organization, President Bello Galadanchi applauds Zhejiang Normal  University’s efforts “this is a dream come true. We will make everyone proud and help this university become greater”.

Vice President Marek Pekarek sees this as an opportunity for students to give back to the university “students make universities, and we are lucky to be among great students. We made a first step to create an inspiring environment for active and ambitious students. Now we are looking forward to new challenges”.

Secretary Silvia Losiana is happy with the outcome of the general elections “I believe this Society will have a very strong impact towards ourselves, classmates, and people inside or outside our society. We will learn and work together to reach our mission.”

The new union is preparing for a presentation on China-Africa Trade Relations, December 12.
