Three ZJNU International Students Win Annual Government Scholarship
In order to effect the spirit promoted by the National Working Conference on International Students, extend the influence of the Chinese Government Scholarship, and train a greater number of outstanding international talents, the Ministry of Education established the 2015-2016 “Excellent Foreign Student Scholarship” project. This project aims to motivate China-based international students to diligently pursue academic progress and comprehensive learning.
According to the regulations of the Ministry of Education, ZNU recommended three candidates for national selection: Atangana Etogo Christian, Cameroonian post-graduate student of Inorganic Chemistry in the College of Chemistry and Life Sciences, Marco Lovisetto, Italian post-graduate student of English Language and Literature in the College of Foreign Languages, and Ngalouo Flogy Dostov, Congolese undergraduate student of Digital Media Technology in the College of Communication and Creative Culture. After going through the rigorous selection process of the relevant committee, all three students won the scholarship, confirming that the high-quality education standards of ZJNU are recognized at the national level.
A graduate of the University of Yaounde I, Cameroon, Atangana was enrolled by the College of Chemistry and Life Sciences at ZJNU in 2013. Scrupulous in his studies, he continues to strive for higher levels of expertise, learning from his instructors and colleagues. Under the supervision of his advisor, he published three SCI papers.
A graduate of the East-Asian Studies Department at Ca' Foscari University of Venice, Lovisetto was enrolled by the Translation and Interpreting Department at ZJNU in 2012. Under the supervision of his advisor, he combined research in theoretical translation studies with applied translation practices, resulting in specialized translation skills. Since 2013, he has been translating for the Jinhua Municipal People's Government; in news section of the English website alone, he has translated more than 80,000 characters. With his dynamic and positive character, he took part in several kinds of both intra- and inter-school events, including representing ZJNU in numerous competitions: at the First National and Fifth Provincial International Students Talent Show, he was appointed anchorman of the event and won first prize for team performance; at the national final of the 2013 China Exploration (Qingdao), he ranked third overall, ranking fourth in the orienteering event and winning the basketball tournament.
A graduate of Brazzaville Tavarech High School, Congo, Ngalouo was enrolled in the Digital Media Technology program in 2013. His goal is to become an outstanding broadcaster of culture. In order to achieve his goal, he joined the Mac Studio; under the supervision of experienced instructors, he is building up a strong foundation of theoretical fundamentals and practical experiences. In fact, he both actively researches the theories of the field and records the beauty of this world with his camera. Putting his skills at the service of society, he contributed to the creation of and/or independently produced several works, including the well-received Exuberant ZJNU; One Step Afar; Come On, Let's Go to ZJNU; and Boyue.
