Orientation for Newly Arrived International Students

In the afternoon of October 16th, orientation was held for international students who starting from this Autumn term will be joining us at Zhejiang  Normal University. International students from different colleges were joined by members of faculty to take part in this learning experience which was held in the student activity center’s auditorium. Students were walked through a range of rules and regulations regarding immigration, social security, traffic law, school life, fire safety and study management by members of Jinhua’s Bureau of Immigration, Xinshi Police Station, the International Bureau and our university’s security department.

This year a total of over 550 international students have enrolled and began to study at this university, this marks the largest number of international students we’ve had yet in the fall semester. As this number is rising, the importance of urging students to abide by the rules and regulations ofChinaand our university, as well as encouraging students to work hard in their studies is becoming increasingly obvious. Many of our international students paying for tuition by themselves live off-campus, because of this the students received special information on how to remain safe off-campus while at the same time abiding by the laws. This part of the lecture was presented by the official of Xinshi Police Station, who were invited to help the students get a clearer understanding on this matter.

Many international students expressed that after taking part in this year’s orientation they had a clearer, much deeper understanding of the laws they need to follow, in the future they want to continue learning about them in order to achieve a more successful life here in the university.
