Students from Overseas Elite Universities Visit our University( Overseas Students Travel to Jinhua Ancient village program)

On July 2nd, 42 members of the “Overseas Elite Universities travel to Jinhua ancient village”program from the United States, Britain and other 14 countries visited Zhejiang Normal University. The visit group was accompanied by more than 20 graduate volunteers. The delegation visited the African Museum, international students’dormitory, and listened to lectures on Jinhua customs and traditions. In the African Museum, the eyes of the students were deeply attracted by the museum's rich collections; attendees listened to the story behind the collections. Sinothando,a student from South Africa, was impressed that the museum's collections were much richer than some of the museum collections in South Africa, by showing a very comprehensive components and their content being very interesting.2015070301.jpg

International students dormitory’s indoor sports equipment was appreciated the most by the visiting students. British Nick and South African Sinothando couldn't help learning ping pong on the spot. Alissa Ditten, a Swiss delegate, was excited about lectures on the traditional folk custom and culture, the teachings of Yin and Yang, and Jinhua bullfight culture. He was fascinated by the teachings of Yin and Yang, and five elements, and decided to look for opportunities to continue research in this area

It is understood that activities for the“Overseas elite Universities travel to Jinhua ancient village”program were organized by Jinhua municipal government. The activites began at end of June and will last until mid July. Early in March this year, more than 20 volunteers from Zhejiang Normal University, specifically graduate students majoring in folklore professional research and foreign language translation helped in organization of this activities. The volunteers were responsible for training the villagers on foreign affairs etiquette and translating the related materials.

When the activities began, our volunteers and overseas students were spending time visting parks and villages of Jinhua,eating local foods and exchanging knowledge. Volunteers provided warm and thoughtful service that deeply moved our foreign friends, stroke a strong friendship with each other. Their story can also be found in the June 29th issue of "Jinhua daily". Zhang Anmeng, the deputy director of the Chinese Ancient Village Protection and Development Committee, expressed appreciation of ZJNU volunteer work. She hopes the friendship of the local volunteers and overseas students can be permanently maintained, so that the philosophy of ancient village protection can be inrooted in the hearts of Chinese and foreign young people
