International Students (Business Chinese Program) Visit the Museum

On the morning on Monday, January 26th, Chinese Language Department Head Liu Yan, Director of the Center of Education Sun Chunying, and International Students Program Advisor Futing, began the short semester for second and third year Business Chinese students from over 10 countries includingCameroon,Congo,Yemen,Egypt, andUkraine, with Lesson One—putting culture and education into practice. The teachers’ and students’ first stop was the Leifeng  Museum. The Leifeng Museum was founded in 2010 by Mr. Cao Rongan, 77, and has already welcomed over 100,000 visitors. Teacher and volunteer guide Fang Xiuxing (College  of Economics and Management 4th year student) helped the students understand the historical significance of the Leifeng memorial, Leifeng’s biography, and its impact on modern Chinese culture.

The second leg of the journey was a trip to the Jinhua  paper-cuts Museum, in the city center. Students were able to see traditional Chinese paper-cuts and marveled at the intricacy of the paper-cutting processes and techniques. Through these activities, international students were able to gain an understanding and appreciation of Chinese art and culture.
